The End of the World?

The Site
I’m going to try something new in this post: I’m going to organize it! In the future (assuming I still like this arrangement the next time I look at it) you’ll see headings in bold in the posts. Each heading will have various bits of information you may be interested in. Read each one at your leisure, or skip around! We’ll see how it goes. Please feel free to comment and let me and Thronos know what you think (not just of this organization but of the site and comics in general!).

The Comic
I don’t like to start off a post with an apology but I feel this time maybe I should at least offer an explanation for the post delay. The idea for this comic “came to me in a dream” (literally) last Thursday. I started working on it the morning I woke up, but didn’t see anything solid come of it until Saturday night. From then until now I’ve been struggling with the art-work and art-style.

Normally I try to employ a single, clean, crisp style (usually markers). In this comic, every attempt I made the markers seemed too bulbous and cumbersome–the lines blurred, the shapes clashed, and the colors were too bright and didn’t have enough depth. So, while I started with black markers and pencil I ended with colored pencil and about a half an hour of work on Photoshop.

Oh, and for the record, the “extended Mega Man theme” definitely came from an Arm Cannon album.

The Living
The Easter holiday was a good one for me. Thronos and I got to see each other in person and play some games and hang out. Some family came in from out of town and we did what we always do when the family gets together: we ate, rested, ate, then ate some more. After that we ate a great deal more and then had some food. Did I mention the eating?

The Gaming
I haven’t done anything terrifically new on this front, but I did get the opportunity to play some cooperative Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 with Frozen. Tim Curry and George Takei are the only actors I notice as “big names” who make appearances in the general storyline, but they’re sufficiently awesome to captivate me. The plot is appropriate, fun, and suitably laced with good actors acting badly; all in all, a tremendous achievement. The gameplay itself is reminiscent of the best aspects of Warcraft 2 and Warcraft 3 with the speed of a game of Starcraft. (Note: I have yet to have played any other games in the Command and Conquer line–I only picked up this one because of the golden word: co-op.)

Of course, I’m still enjoying myself on AstroEmpires (Delta server).

Finally, a few four-player games of Starcraft rounded out my Easter weekend. Thronos, Alynne, Jamesoven, and I had a great time stompin’ the comps. I can’t wait for Starcraft 2.

i am a creature amongst different stars.

You may notice the guy from home alone 2, the other guy from star trek original (who also played a bad ass samurai businessman on Heroes)

Those two dudes didn’t make the poster!

Gemma Atkinson –most popularly known in the UK on the soap opera “hollyoaks” as a bisexual co-ed.
Kelly Hu used to be on a show called Martial Law (with Samo Hung–Jackie Chan’s kung fu guy)
Gina Carano(the russian chick with the sniper rifle)– Ultimate fighter. ‘Nuff Said
    Jenny McCarthy blonde american bimbo…
Peter Stormare–stereo typical russian guy from every movie that ever needed a russian guy. My favorite being Armageddon when he shows us how we fix things on russian space STATION /clang!

Finally for the record– i have a lot of down time at work, as i finished everything. So, entertain me faster.

    Hello again, Evhelm.

I must admit that I am enjoying the game. My last correspondence was quite the riddle, I must admit. I am rather perplexed, however, that you do not seem to be sharing in the delight of it. But I must be steadfast, for how are you to ever respond to such an ambiguous personality like myself.

For now I will choose to believe that you have wondered who, indeed, is Azruel? Perhaps you have known all along. But what would be the fun in that, hmmm? It seems that our forum offers us a chance to battle wits in the arena of public knowledge, however small the audience may, or may not be.

People are watching, and no doubt, people are wondering. Until I know that the ruse is no longer appreciated, I shall continue to remain….

P.S. I spent a rather long hour constructing the last message. It is not without a Key; one the likes of which Poe himself would appreciate, no doubt.

    arch-nemesis much?

  4. Thronos says:

My money’s on Jimmy Kudo, the boy detective there. Though, there’s no Dr. Agasa in this situation, so no magic detective toys for you! Just some bumbling friends to distract you while you think. :P

The site is coming along nicely, keep up the good work!

P.S. Dawn of War II has co-op and is 25% off this weekend on Steam.

  7. Evhelm says:

@ AF: Is Dawn of War 2 worth getting? I think Frozen was also considering getting that, and I did just finish the campaign (on medium) of C&C3. (Although I would definitely play that again on any difficulty!)

@Azruel: I’m not uninterested, but I am hesitant! Strangely enough I know (at least) two people who would use “spawn” as a username, would speak in high language and riddles, and who used Azruel/Azriel/Azrael in the past. Currently I’m ruminating over your riddle and hoping that (as your hint suggests) it has a detectable key and is some kind of cryptogram.

PS: Is the capitalization of “Key” intentional or circumstantial?
